NaBloPoMo: Day 1 of 30

Posted by: Antie Koekie on: November 10, 2008

Once a blond, always a blond!!!

Here I was waiting to find out how and/or where I must stick my 30 little NaBloPoMo’s up or on; not knowing if there was a specific “page” for it  or what……………….

In the meanwhile, the clock was ticking, today already being the 10th, going on the 11th and I’m still waiting…………..

But,Antie Koekie’s got a very clever daughter. Also born blond, like her mom, but she’s totally outgrown it!

I sat her down behind (or is it in front?) of my PC, and, voila! She’s got it all figured out!

Thanx, Natie!

So, here goes!

I’m far behind, so I’ll just have to step it up or something like that.

OK! Although today is the 10th (for the next 60 odd minutes), for me it is Day 1.

And, as some of you would remember, on the back of our exercise books was a little rhyme about “30 Days hath September, bla, bla, bla, and November.” Or something like it……..

That means I’m going to give you 30 wonderful things that I can’t live without. I’ll call them “My Little Pleasures That I Can’t Do Without.” It will be in no particular order; I’m going to shoot straight from the hip, as it pops up.

Because of my own very peculiar grasp of the English language, I won’t let you suffer through a thousand word post; short and sweet and straight from the heart, OK?

Little Pleasure Number 1:Books

To open a new book. To smell the pages and to anticipate the journey into a wonderful world of make believe, hidden between the covers.

To take a new glossy magazine from the shelf. To randomly flip it open and feel the vibrant colours jump up at you. Editors of magazines sell us a dream with every new edition and we fall for it, willingly, hook, line and sinker, because we WANT to! We want to believe we can buy the Jimmy Choo’s or bake that delicious meringue concoction or put our make up on like the model on the cover………

To visit the library. To stand in awe in the presence of so many stories, just waiting to be read.

To attack the table with second hand books at the flea market. The absolute pleasure of finding an old book you’ve always wanted…………..

A world without books? Impossible! Unthinkable! You can’t curl up in bed on a rainy Sunday afternoon with your PC, can you?
